Does the Father/Birth Partner need to come to Hypnobirthing too?

Fathers/Partners do not need to attend the course, but they will find it very beneficial for both themselves and for you if they did. Most fathers/partners arrive to classes feeling sceptical but then leave feeling extremely enthusiastic. Once the facts and the logic are explained, you will gain an understanding of how important it is for them to participate and the positive impact and difference that fathers or birth companions can make when they are actively involved. Feel free to read the testimonials, they really do speak for themselves.

Fathers are often seen as someone who is nervous, and who feels helpless as he is unable to help in a situation he feels responsible for.
A hypnobirthing father is knowledgeable and able to offer support in the birthing process.  They are a huge asset in the birthing room, and many mothers say, ‘I couldn’t have done it without him.’

Will Hypnobirthing work for me if I come to the course on my own?

The answer is YES. It is not uncommon for women to attend a Hypnobirthing course on their own, after all some women may have a husband/partner who is away on business or they may even be a single mum. Whatever the reason may be, you are welcomed and supported in our classes. If you do plan on having a friend or relative as a birthing partner, or if you plan on having an additional birth companion as well as your partner, we would recommend that they also attend the course to ensure they are able to offer you the best support throughout your birthing experience.

How many couples are there in a group?

The size or each group will vary, however there is a maximum number of 8 couples per course. We feel that this group size will ensure the group remains interactive, friendly and personal. Great friendships and support networks have developed following a hypnobirth course which many mothers and fathers have found invaluable.

What will I need to bring to the classes?

Hypnobirth focusses on relaxation, so we advise you wear something comfortable. We will provide thick yoga mats for you to use during classes, however you may want to bring the following:

  • A blanket to lie on
  • A blanket to keep you warm (when we relax we can feel a little chilly)
  • A pillow or cushion
